sbcds announce the release of a four track ep by the Wessex Melodica Orchestra
Exeter, Devon -- February 2006 – This week sees the release of a four track ep by the Wessex Melodica Orchestra. The Wessex Melodica Orchestra are a six piece ensemble featuring up to three melodicas accompanied by piano, bass and drums. They were formed earlier this year after the chance discovery of two hohner melodicas at a car boot sale and a yamaha melodica in a charity shop all in the same week!
The melodica has been a much maligned instrument - like the recorder forever associated with children taking their first steps in playing a musical instrument and learning to read music. The Wessex Melodica Orchestra felt that it was time to change this image and have produced a four track ep of some of their favourite songs from the 1970s. The cd features recordings of the Carpenters’ On Top of the World, Gilbert O’Sullivan’s Alone again (naturally), Sylvester’s you make me feel (mighty real) and Herb Alpert’s This Guy’s in love with you.
The cd is available at a cost of £5.00 (+ £1.50 p&p) via the website www.simonbelshaw.co.uk.
